What is bacteriostatic water — and why not just sterile water?

Every peptide order needs it, and it’s the most common thing people forget. Here’s what BAC water actually is and why the 0.9% benzyl alcohol matters.

The difference in one line

Sterile water is clean once — the first needle through the stopper ends that. Bacteriostatic water contains 0.9% benzyl alcohol, which inhibits bacterial growth inside the vial, making it suitable for multi-draw use over the research window.

Why it matters for peptides

Reconstituted peptide vials are used across days or weeks, not in one sitting. Each draw introduces potential contamination; without a bacteriostatic agent the solution becomes unusable within days. With BAC water, refrigerated solutions remain viable for the standard ~4 week window.

Ours ships free with bundles

Every Vital Biotech bundle includes BAC water matched to the number of vials, and it’s available solo as a 3ml vial. If you’re ordering a single peptide, add one — it’s the item nobody realises they need until the powder arrives.

Every batch lab tested. Certificates published for each compound — Australian stock, same-day dispatch before 3pm.
